Tom Adair

Tom Adair lives in Richmond Victoria and works out of the Artshole studio in Caulfield VIC.

Born in the early eighties, Tom grew up surrounded by early skateboard and graffiti culture. Later his formal education in fashion design at RMIT eventually led to a design career in homewares and interiors that has influenced Tom to explore new mediums and subject matter, including architecture.

Halftone has been a long time fascination for the Melbourne artist, stemming from his days running a clothing label in 2004 (Rest in peace), where he produced a series of halftone screen printed designs. Since then Tom has been drawn to the dot effect and the way 2 colours can contrast in size to create depth in an image.

"Airbush is like a refined form of graffiti, I have adapted this into something familiar yet new. For me it's the layering of neon and specialist framing that really gives a quality and brings my pieces to life."

Working with a range of materials from aerosol, acrylic, neon, timber, dibond, metal and glass, allows Tom to produce and fabricate elaborate pieces for private commissions, commercial projects or pieces for group shows.
