Randomly choosing a colour, responding to the moment and without any rationale either gently whisper the brush across the canvas or lunge in a maniacal perge, these initial marks are free from anything controlled, pure expression, at some point making sense of it, seeing where the story or the beat unfolds, looking for a lead, it is process of building up and peeling back, but a feeling of freedom, space and balance is important and colour of course, after that a mood. I am a narrative painter, but relate to the more abstract works of Miro and Klee. Currently, the landscape and a new direction is hopeful, surrounded by sub tropical rainforest and the obvious circles in it, I have spent the last four years looking at it closely, learning about it, knowing it and now finally it's coming out.
