Josef MARZI (born 1974)
Josef Marzi is a Melbourne born artist of Italian Parentage. Although based in Melbourne, Josef has travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia, collecting photographic images of his travels that inform much of his work.
A gifted illustrator, Marzi is a self taught artist who has developed an entirely unique technique that has become a visual signature in and of itself. His practise draws on elements of photography, painterly expression, and assemblage to create rich works that combine traditional realism with digital culture.
Marzi is represented in private collections throughout Australia, Italy, Belgium and Japan, and has been selected as a finalist in many art prizes, including being represented twice as a finalist in the Metro art award.
International demand for Marzi’s work is growing with exhibitions planned for galleries in New York, London, Tokyo and Los Angeles in the near future.
