She has won the Peoples Choice Award in this years Albany Art Prize with her fantastic depiction of a group of war veterans.
“ ‘Heroes’ depicts three war veterans participating in industrial therapy, making clothes pegs as part of Work Group at the Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital. Work Group was established over 50 years ago at the Hospital, initially for Second World War veterans, attendees now also include veterans from the Korean and Vietnam Wars. The purpose of Work Group is to provide support and socialisation; as well as a venue for mateship to continue after military days. Industrial therapy is one of many aspects of Work Group. The veterans work together making clothes pegs and the resultant funds provide donations to hospitals and charities.”
We look forward to Victoria’s solo show here at the gallery, November 7th – December 3 2016.
